Church Painting Project in Indianapolis
First Methodist Church

First Methodist Church is a 150+ year old church/pre-school located in a quaint and quiet family friendly neighborhood. After the church began to show its age, members of the trustee board began to look for contractors to take on their big project. Frustrated with the process of looking for contractors First Methodist Church contacted CertaPro who stepped up to the challenge of making updates to the historic building. The team at CertaPro Painters of Indianapolis are experienced with church painting projects, and have the tools, equipment, and crew to handle church painting projects of all sizes.

I highly recommend CertaPro! Our church was taking on some big projects that needed coordination - exterior painting and stain glass window repair, cleaning, and new coverings. Having difficulty finding contractors willing to take on a big project and dealing with some lead based paint we contacted CertaPro. They were easy and quick to set up a visitation, give a quote, and explain their process.

CHALLENGES:

Due to the age of the church substrate and structure was a bit a challenge, other challenges included lead and permits to get started on renovating the church.

Due to the unique challenges, special equipment like a lift dumper was used as well as the special technique of caulking expansion type joints with backer rod between windows & brick.

CONDITIONS:

  • Wood surfaces around stained glass windows peeling.
  • Caulk around windows between brick failing.
  • Metal gutters/trim cap peeling and failing.
  • Lead based paint on the building

PROJECT INVOLVEMENT:

  • Paint – scrape, full prime, two finish to wood surfaces. Previously painted gutters/trim cap, doors, door frame, hand rails.
  • Caulk – removing caulk from old windows, install new backer rod. New caulk
  • Wood replacement – minor around windows.
